AMERICAN SON: A Play Reading at the Southwest Arts Center Black Box

This 90-minute play reading is a free community event and will be followed by an informal talkback facilitated by Dr. Tiffany Russell, DEI Consultant.

ABOUT THE PLAY
An estranged bi-racial couple must confront their feelings about race and bias after their son is detained by the local police following a traffic stop incident. Their disparate histories and backgrounds inform their assumptions as they try to find out what happened to their son.

*Trigger Warning* This play contains offensive and racialized language; traumatic topics, including police brutality, and complex family dynamics.
