Celebrating the Power of Music

Everyone has a music story: their first CD, the first dance, a go to pre-game song, their favorite lullaby as a child. We carry these songs and the feelings within them as we move through the ever changing chapters of life. Within our favorite music we find familiarity in the foreign, peace in the chaos, and community in the solitude.

As a vocalist, I have been a part of that powerful community music cultivates; there is something about the power of song - the richness of shared musical experience - that draws us closer to one another forming bonds that may not have existed otherwise. The ability to blend different timbres and tones to create something cohesive and beautiful is something we can all translate into our everyday life. The universal language of music teaches us the importance of collaborating and celebrating the beauty of differences that can ultimately unite in perfect harmony. We are able to use music to ignite, inspire, reflect, connect and heal within ourselves and among each other.

Here at SFI, we have the honor of playing a role in sharing the transformative power of music with our community. We are proud to announce that we will be working in partnership with Grady Hospital's Ponce De Leon Center. The Ponce De Leon Center is leading the fight to end HIV/AIDS as one of the largest and most advanced treatment centers in the United States. Since being founded in 1986, they have provided medical and support services to about 5,000 men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. We will be working closely with Grady to start a choir who will be tasked with bringing the healing nature of music to those within the center. We look forward to the impact this will have within the center and we look forward to sharing more as this project gains momentum.

We hope that you continue to find the music that moves you. Our team has put together a top 100 list to share some of our most cherished musical moments with you! You can take a listen below, and hopefully you will find something new to take with you.
