We aren’t apart from nature we are a part of nature
As South Fulton Institute celebrates Earth day, I find myself thinking about how much arts culture and environment really are intertwined. When you look around and survey the world around you there are pieces of art everywhere you go. The colors of the sun setting after a long day, or how the leaves seem to dance as the wind blows. The sound of a river flowing on a cool misty morning. Here at SFI we believe that as members of the community, we have a responsibility to preserve the natural art that we normally take for granted.
Earth day is about celebrating that art and learning about ways that we can protect the earth and the beauty that comes from it. We are proud to promote and highlight organizations that we work with that's mission and values are all about sustainability and preservation.

Lifecycle Building Center, Reusing materials for the community
Here are two of our new partners and ways that you can help!
Lifecycle Building Center is a nonprofit that captures building materials from the waste stream and directs them back into the community through reuse. LBC was formally founded in 2011 by a group of passionate volunteers who wanted to help Atlanta tackle its overwhelming solid waste problem by building the infrastructure needed to redirect reusable materials away from landfills and back into the local community. You can learn more about volunteering with LBC here.
Trees Atlanta is a nonprofit community group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Since its beginnings, Trees Atlanta’s goals have been to plant new trees, conserve existing trees, and educate the public on the many benefits of trees. Trees Atlanta has become one of the most widely-known and respected nonprofits locally, as well as nationally, for their work as stewards of our urban environment. You can learn more about volunteering with Trees Atlanta here.
The environment is the earth's way of showing us that there is art all around us and I hope you all can find ways this month to appreciate that art and to lend a helping hand in the preservation of our environment.
