Immanuel Laidlaw, a 25-year-old Jamaican American residing in Atlanta, GA, is a first-generation college graduate with a profound commitment to narrative change and community empowerment. Despite overcoming homelessness, his resilience propelled him to establish a creative studio and launch a non-profit organization focused on the transformative power of art and storytelling.

Immanuel, Chair of the Georgia Balance of State Continuum of Care, spearheads initiatives addressing youth homelessness. Through the Youth Demonstration Homelessness Prevention initiative, he enhances transitional resources, awareness, and community unity. Immanuel's advocacy extends nationally, collaborating with policymakers and sharing innovative solutions.

Immanuel's journey began in Atlanta's entertainment industry, rising from an intern to a Program Assistant at a black-owned radio station. His passion for narrative change deepened during his fellowship with Project Go Dark, inspiring him to leverage storytelling for community impact.

In 2017, facing adversity as an Opportunity Youth, Immanuel engaged with OYU and United Way, catalyzing his commitment to supporting and empowering struggling youth. His involvement expanded to chairing the Georgia BoS CoC, where he spearheaded the Youth Demonstration Homelessness Prevention initiative.

His efforts culminated in a City of East Point-sponsored art exhibition, attracting 300 attendees and fostering dialogue.

Immanuel's advocacy extends beyond Georgia, engaging policymakers and collaborating with Continuums of Care nationwide. With a background in communications, he seeks to empower youth and foster connections, believing in art's transformative power.
